THE BARNABAS IMPACT
As a recent participant in Barnabas, I was immediately struck by the power of bringing together people with a variety of backgrounds and strengths to advise, provoke and guide early stage ministries struggling with a problem they are currently facing. In a short time, the struggling ministry receives expert counsel that is both practical and useful immediately. It’s so apparent to me that everyone involved, whether giving or receiving advice, desires to see God’s Kingdom grow. This collaboration works. I’m delighted to be a part of it.
Time and money are both precious. As an investor, the Barnabas Group has done a nice job combining the two on my behalf. I benefit from the vetting done by the executive team for two local ministries that present at each bi-monthly meeting. As a result, I am introduced to a couple ministries I would not have been exposed to otherwise, am able to discuss their issue(s) and provide some feedback and as led, decide if there is a good fit with my gifts to invest and partner with them further. I consider it a win/win for all involved.
We were not made to go it alone. We were made to be in community, loving and encouraging and supporting each other. Barnabas does just that with emerging ministries in our area, organizations that are heeding God’s call to serve pressing needs not otherwise met. Each of the participating ministries are already blessing people in our community, and Barnabas helps them take the next steps in their growth. Barnabas walks alongside each of these ministries, providing resources and expertise these programs may not easily access. Barnabas is a way for each of us to share our modest gifts and expertise to glorify our God in ways none of could achieve in our own. Join us.
The Barnabas Group understands that running a ministry is a difficult calling and that no one can be experts at all things. After presenting our vision and challenges to the group, we were surrounded with constructive and supportive comments, connected to new networking resources, and encouraged to move ahead with new insight. Even today, we continue to be connected to new and helpful ministries that complement the work that we do. I love seeing individuals with a variety of business, ministry, and career expertise become excited about how their skills can be used in partnership for God’s purposes.
“The Barnabas Group offered Exodus Lending a chance to present our ministry and receive suggestions and input from caring experts in the broader community. TBG staff walked us through the entire process; from the initial conversation through inviting us to one of their events with other presenting ministries in order to see how it works, to help planning our presentation, welcoming us to the event and finally facilitating the “deeper dive” with Barnabas Partners to tackle those issues that keep us up at night with a smaller group. It was such a gift to have a fresh examination of our program by caring and talented community partners. We are grateful and humbled by the support. Thank you!”
You are not alone. In our work, the #1 indicator of child abuse is parents living in social isolation. We like to say that Safe Families provides extended “family-like” support to those families in crisis. As a brand new non profit in town, there were times when we were discouraged. Barnabas has been that “family” to us when we needed the extra encouragement or boost to take the next steps in growing our impact in the community. They prayed for our work, helped us build our board and gave a timely financial gift. Together is better. We appreciate you Barnabas!
For me Barnabas Group has provided an opportunity to see how God is working through local non-profits, allowing me to be a conduit of connections, ideas and use my work experience to offer ideas and make introductions. Seeing the creativity and passion of these ministries is always humbling and encouraging at the same time.
